Astronaut Butch Wilmore conducts a spacewalk outside the International Space Station

NASA astronaut and Expedition 72 Flight Engineer Butch Wilmore works outside the International Space Station during a five-hour and 26-minute spacewalk. Wilmore swabbed external surfaces searching for microorganisms that may survive and reproduce near vents on the exterior of the orbital outpost. The space station was orbiting 261 miles above Eastern Europe at the time of this photograph.
